Does exactly what's advertised. It takes the XML, turns it into a simple tree structure with no built-in assumptions, and lets you get to work. Some may think that it's too bare bones, but when I want to do some simple task with XML data, this is my go-to tool because it gets me out of the realm of dealing with XML and into the realm of perl data structures. Once it's there, I can run it through whatever transformations I want to get the data I need and be on my way.
