I'm new to Cisco logon scripting. I must have SSH for my systems. I started with Net::Telnet and got some very basic telnet scripts running. Log in, print out to screen some output, then close. I then tried Net::Telnet::Cisco and it was much better for Cisco for paging output (long commands like show run) and getting into privilege mode. Next was making it all work under ssh and this is where the trouble began. You could use still another wrapper on top of Net::Telnet::Cisco, either Net::SSh, or Net::SSh::Perl. I even considered switching to Expect as SSH support seems clean. But this one module seemed to combine SSH support and Cisco support into one. I first hesitated because it is actually several .pm(s) and it seemed to break my simplicity requirement. But after testing it out, I realized another .pm in my box is hardly complex compared to the hassle of the alternatives...and it is in fact the extra .pm(s) that make this a smooth solution. i.e. The transport mode with separate .pm for telnet and ssh and serial. Thank you for your hard work. March 2009. Marcus
